Holidays are almost here!

The holiday season is coming up very soon and very quickly. Some of the winter holidays are Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa. Most of the holidays are celebrated with gifts, treats, family, friends, and traditions. It’s getting closer to that time of the year where the boarding students go home to spend the holidays with their families, so here are some holiday songs, treats, and gift ideas for everyone.
The most popular songs are All I Want for Christmas is You, Grandma Got Runover By a Reindeer, Dominic the Donkey, Hanukkah Oh Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa Song, My favorite holiday song is “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” by Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. What is yours? Tell us in the comments so we can listen too!
I also found out that the most popular traditions are watching movies, eating mashed potatoes, playing board games with family, opening presents, and visiting relatives, as well as getting a Christmas tree, and baking cookies with loved ones.

Many Rectory students say their favorite holiday is Christmas because they love spending time with their family. I agree that Christmas should primarily be a time for family. I think that people should think of Christmas (and any other holiday) as an opportunity to get to know their families better. I think that people should have more time to spend with their families. Spending time with friends and family should be a more commonly celebrated event. People should celebrate how lucky they are to have a family and have people that care about them.
On the other hand, some people have very interesting ideas about holidays. When asked what holiday they would like to create, some people had funny ideas. Trent, a seventh-grader at Rectory, said that he would add National Frozen Cow Day. To stick with the cold or “frozen” theme, Jackson, a sixth-grader, said that he would add National Snow Day.
Gifts can be so exciting, I personally love opening my presents and seeing what I got. If you’re not sure what to put on your list yet, here are some ideas we got after interviewing some of the students at Rectory. The most commonly said answer was money and gift cards, but we had a lot of other answers such as a car, shoes, a V.R. set, robucks, McDonald’s, a soccer ball, a watch, a Rectory quarter zip, another hamster, and to be reborn as Kylie Jenner’s daughter. I hope this gave you an idea or two of what you may want, and best of luck to become Kylie’s daughter and I hope that everyone else gets what they asked for!

I can’t wait till Christmas comes around and we hope you all have lots of fun on Winter break. Happy holidays!
