How We Celebrate the New Year

Video created by Max Y., Louis L., and Emily W. of Rectory

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are joyful and cheerful times for all of us. Every country has its unique ways to celebrate this special time: Americans watch the ball drop at New York’s Times Square; Chinese people view colorful fireworks to welcome the new year; Mexicans eat grapes during the last seconds of the year to count down to midnight; and Koreans eat grains and rice cakes… In order to gain a better understanding of the various cultures represented at Rectory School and how each celebrates the coming of the new year, the Newspaper staff toured the Rectory campus and interviewed students from our diverse population. We then created a video of their responses. Please enjoy our video as you view it in full screen and with your volume turned up. Thank you!
