Rectory’s 1st Pumpkin Decorating Contest

Rectory’s very first “Pumpkin Decorating Contest” is happening now, from October 23rd thru October 31st, 2020. It’s open to all students in Grades K-9, so put your creative thinking caps on!!

Ms. Siobhan O’Neil, one of our resident Halloween aficionados, invites you to participate in a pumpkin decorating contest for all Rectory day, boarding, online and onsite students, teachers, employees, and families!

Boarding students can sign up to carve a pumpkin on Thursday, October 30th, during evening activities. Be sure to check off this activity when you fill out your weekly activities’ sign-up sheet from Ms. Colleen O’Neil.

Day students, online students, teachers, and other Rectory employees can enjoy carving, drawing, and/or painting or decorating their pumpkins at home with their families or friends. Play some spooky music and munch on some healthy fall snacks (think apple cider donuts, crisp apple slices, popcorn balls, toasted pumpkin seeds, and hot apple cider — Mmm!!). What a fun way to spend an October afternoon or evening!

Here are the rules:

• Find a pumpkin and carve it, paint it, or decorate it. If you can’t get a pumpkin, be creative! (You can use any type of squash or gourd.)

• Take a photo of yourself with your pumpkin, as proof. (See Ms. O’Neil’s photo of the pumpkin she carved below.)

• Submit your photo to the Pumpkin Contest Submission Folder below by midnight (EST) on October  31st, if you dare…

Rectory’s 8th-grader, Daniel Y., drew this picture of his Halloween pumpkin. Great artistic talent, Daniel!

Have fun decorating your pumpkins, however you choose to design them! Tap into your artistic talents, be daring, let your imaginations run wild! You are all unique and special, so your pumpkin creations should be, too! We can’t wait to see all of your submissions!

Happy Halloween, everyone!
