Havanese dogs are active dogs and enjoy learning tricks and playing games with their owners. They are intelligent and easy to train. They need socialization to prevent them from becoming afraid of strangers. The Havanese can be a good watchdog but poor guard dog because of its small size. Havanese dogs require brushing and combing three or more times a week to prevent their coats from getting matted. Havanese dogs usually live between 10 and 15 years.

The Havanese is an old breed from the Bichon family. They can suffer from separation anxiety when left alone, so they do best when someone is home during the day to keep them company.  Havanese are good with children and are sturdy enough to survive living with a clumsy toddler. They only bark or growl or attack something or someone if they feel afraid, in pain, or are trying to defend their territory. They like to travel, and because of their small size, they are easy to take along on a trip.

The price to buy a Havanese dog is between $1,000 and $1,500 for a purebred puppy. That might seem like a lot of money, but they are very affectionate, loyal dogs, and they love cuddling in your lap, so they are great companions and will make you happy every day! I know because I am the owner of two Havanese dogs, and I love them!
